## Embracing Whole Grain Foods for Healthier Generations

International Whole Grain Day is celebrated annually in November. It aims to raise awareness of the nutrition, health and sustainability-related benefits of whole grains and promote their consumption worldwide.

CPW is proud to support International Whole Grain Day, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of whole grain for lifelong health \[1\]\[2\]. This year's campaign, themed "Embracing whole grain foods for healthier generations," aims to highlight the role of whole grains, including processed whole grain foods, in promoting overall well-being and nurturing healthier generations throughout the entire life span.

## [Whole grains offer more than just fiber. ](https://www.wholegraininitiative.org/wholegrainday)

They are packed with essential nutrients such as B vitamins\[3\], vitamin E, iron, folate, magnesium, selenium, zinc, potassium, as well as other beneficial compounds like phytosterols and other phytonutrients (REF). There is also a growing evidence consistently show that higher whole grain intake is associated with a lower risk of chronic diseases and mortality. \[4\]\[5\]

Despite these benefits, the consumption of whole grain remains insufficient worldwide. Encouraging the widespread consumption of whole grain products is therefore of utmost importance.

We play a vital role in facilitating higher whole grain intake by ensuring a diverse range of whole grain breakfast cereals. Our breakfast cereals are tailored to meet consumers' preferences and dietary requirements while being convenient to integrate into their daily diet.

**International Whole Grain Day serves as a reminder of the importance of embracing whole grain foods for healthier generations.**

By raising awareness, implementing key policy measures, and promoting industry initiatives, we can enhance whole grain uptake and contribute to healthier dietary habits among young and older consumers. \[6\]

Together, let us prioritize whole grain as a fundamental component of a healthy and sustainable diet.
